A Miso Music Portugal foi fundada em 1985 por Paula e Miguel Azguime, compositores, intérpretes e artistas pluridisciplinares que, desde a fundação do Miso Ensemble (duo de flauta e percussão com um percurso singular no panorama musical português) desenvolvem uma actividade incansável no campo da nova música, contribuindo de maneira prolífica para a expansão e promoção da arte musical contemporânea. O Miso Ensemble é reconhecido pelo público e pela crítica como um dos mais inovadores agrupamentos portugueses de música contemporânea.

À actividade artística de Paula e Miguel Azguime vem juntar-se uma longa e perseverante dedicação à promoção dos compositores portugueses e ao fomento da arte musical tanto a nível nacional como internacional. Neste âmbito têm desenvolvido e multiplicado ao longo dos anos inúmeras acções pioneiras, que deram origem, para além da própria Miso Music Portugal, à editora independente Miso Records, à realização do Festival Música Viva, à criação do Miso Studio, ao desenvolvimento de uma rede alargada de parceiros para a internacionalização da música portuguesa, etc... até à fundação em 2001 do Centro de Investigação & Informação da Música Portuguesa.
Paula Azguime é directora executiva da Miso Music Portugal e Miguel Azguime director artístico.

Historial

Fundada por Paula Azguime e por Miguel Azguime, a Associação Cultural Miso Music Portugal nasceu como uma "extensão" do Miso Ensemble no sentido de fomentar e a promover a criação musical contemporânea, colmatando algumas das inúmeras lacunas estruturais do meio musical português de então e dar voz a uma nova geração de músicos e compositores.

As infra-estruturas foram-se desenvolvendo ao longo dos anos, muitas delas com carácter de serviço público e têm vindo a possibilitar um número vasto de iniciativas e a estabelecer estratégias fundamentais para a preservação, a investigação, a criação, a produção e a divulgação da música portuguesa em Portugal e no estrangeiro.

Paralelamente a estas actividades Paula e Miguel Azguime continuam a desenvolver e a apresentar as suas próprias criações, num trabalho criativo prolífico com assinalável expressão e reconhecimento aquém e além fronteiras.

Missão

A Associação Cultural sem fins lucrativos Miso Music Portugal, reconhecida de Utilidade Pública, é um centro para a criação, desenvolvimento e promoção da música de invenção, que tem como missão o fomento da circulação nacional e internacional de ideias e valores, assim como de criações e espectáculos musicais e pluri-disciplinares, que estimulam e promovem a arte criada aqui e agora.

Objectivos

Fomentar, promover e documentar a criação musical, com destaque para a música de compositores portugueses, produzindo e divulgando projectos de criação, edição e circulação de espectáculos na área da música e de outras áreas artísticas correlacionadas;

Incentivar a experimentação e a inovação na investigação dentro da área das artes, sobretudo no campo da música, igualmente ao nível da interpretação e da composição e através da sua conexão com as novas tecnologias;

Através das filiações da Miso Music Portugal dinamizar as redes internacionais ligadas ao sector musical com uma participação activa de Portugal, coordenando esforços em parceria com outras entidades no sentido de orientar, divulgar e promover a criação musical portuguesa a nível nacional e internacional;

Valorizar o património musical português proporcionando acesso à informação e aos documentos desse património, editando-o e publicando-o, com a disponibilização on-line de uma base de dados; constituindo o Centro de Investigação & Informação da Música Portuguesa (www.mic.pt);

Promover uma vertente pedagógica de educação pela arte através de acções junto dos mais variados públicos e em particular das crianças em idade escolar;

Contribuir para a difusão da música de invenção fazendo-a chegar a um maior número de público possível, especialmente no que respeita à criação contemporânea portuguesa;

Informar os compositores e intérpretes portugueses sobre os recursos musicais internacionais relevantes no campo da música contemporânea, como concursos de composição e de interpretação, cursos, festivais, encomendas e apoios internacionais às actividades musicais;

Informar o público em geral e os profissionais do sector musical sobre acontecimentos relevantes do meio musical nacional e internacional.

ACTIVIDADES

Criar, desenvolver e promover projectos de criação;

Criar espectáculos em todas as áreas artísticas que tenham como vínculo a música de invenção;

Produzir e promover espectáculos, ciclos de concertos, festivais de música ou interdisciplinares;

Promover e levar a cabo a organização de workshops, aulas, acções de formação e cursos em todas as áreas artísticas, novas tecnologias e multimédia;

Editar e realizar partituras, livros, CD e DVD, vídeos, filmes, revistas ou folhetos que visem a prossecução dos objectivos da Associação;

Desenvolver projectos de investigação, pesquisa e desenvolvimento, nomeadamente de novas tecnologias ligadas à música e em áreas a ela ligadas.

FOUNDERS

Miso Music Portugal was founded in 1985 by Paula and Miguel Azguime, composers, performers, and multidisciplinary artists who, since the foundation of the Miso Ensemble (a flute and percussion duo with a unique journey in the Portuguese musical landscape) have been tirelessly active in the field of new music, contributing prolifically to the expansion and promotion of contemporary musical art. The Miso Ensemble is recognized by audiences and critics as one of the most innovative Portuguese groups of contemporary music.

The artistic activity of Paula and Miguel Azguime is complemented by a long and persevering dedication to the promotion of Portuguese composers and to the fostering of musical art both nationally and internationally. In this context, they have developed and multiplied over the years numerous pioneering actions, which have led, besides Miso Music Portugal itself, to the creation of the independent label Miso Records, the organization of the Música Viva Festival, the establishment of the Miso Studio, the development of a broad network of partners for the internationalization of Portuguese music, etc., up to the founding in 2001 of the Portuguese Music Research & Information Centre. Paula Azguime is the executive director of Miso Music Portugal, and Miguel Azguime is the artistic director.

HISTORY Founded by Paula Azguime and Miguel Azguime, the Cultural Association Miso Music Portugal emerged as an "extension" of the Miso Ensemble with the aim of fostering and promoting contemporary musical creation, filling some of the numerous structural gaps in the Portuguese musical scene at the time and giving voice to a new generation of musicians and composers.

The infrastructure has been developed over the years, many of them with a public service character, enabling a vast number of initiatives and establishing fundamental strategies for the preservation, research, creation, production, and dissemination of Portuguese music in Portugal and abroad.

Parallel to these activities, Paula and Miguel Azguime continue to develop and present their own creations, in prolific creative work with notable expression and recognition both domestically and internationally.

Mission

The non-profit Cultural Association Miso Music Portugal, recognized as a Public Utility, is a center for the creation, development, and promotion of inventive music. Its mission is to foster the national and international circulation of ideas and values, as well as musical and multidisciplinary creations and performances, that stimulate and promote the art created here and now.

Objectives

To foster, promote, and document musical creation, with an emphasis on the music of Portuguese composers, producing and disseminating projects of creation, edition, and circulation of performances in the field of music and other related artistic areas.
To encourage experimentation and innovation in research within the arts, especially in the field of music, at the level of performance and composition, and through its connection with new technologies.
Through the affiliations of Miso Music Portugal, to energize the international networks related to the music sector with an active participation of Portugal, coordinating efforts in partnership with other entities to guide, disseminate, and promote Portuguese musical creation at the national and international levels.
To valorize the Portuguese musical heritage by providing access to information and documents of this heritage, editing and publishing it, with the online availability of a database; constituting the Portuguese Music Research & Information Center (www.mic.pt).
To promote an educational pedagogical aspect through art with actions among the most varied audiences, particularly children of school age.
To contribute to the diffusion of inventive music, making it reach as large an audience as possible, especially regarding contemporary Portuguese creation.
To inform Portuguese composers and performers about relevant international musical resources in the field of contemporary music, such as composition and performance competitions, courses, festivals, commissions, and international support for musical activities.
